You will apply advanced kinetic and fluid models to characterize heat, particle, and momentum transport, transforming fundamental physics into actionable constraints for equilibrium and coil optimization.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Plasma Physics, Computational Physics, Applied Mathematics or related field.
  • Master’s degree + 3+ years in transport/turbulence modeling also considered.

Responsibilities

  • Perform integrated modeling simulations to predict performance for Thea Energy’s stellarators.
  • Use gyrokinetic, fluid, and reduced transport solvers for confinement and transport projections.
  • Maintain and extend gyrokinetic and transport frameworks.
  • Build reproducible simulation pipelines and data analysis tools.
  • Use turbulence/transport insights to guide equilibrium and coil optimization.
  • Collaborate with physics and engineering teams to interpret results from hardware.
