Job summary

SMSI LLC in Oak Ridge, TN seeks a Structural Engineer to support ORNL ITER project onsite through Final Design of ICH and VAS systems. You will provide full-time analytical resources and collaborate with managers, engineers and vendors.

The role emphasizes complex steel and concrete analyses, DAC documentation, and participation in design reviews. US citizenship and ability to obtain DOE Q clearance are required; travel up to 25% may be needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in design, fabrication, and/or assembly of nuclear hardware and structures.
• Familiarity with ANSI/AISC, AWS, and ACI codes and standards.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze support and equipment hardware for US ITER Project Office.
• Perform linear/nonlinear structural analysis using FEA software.
• Review and verify work of other project participants.
• Document analysis results in DAC packages.
• Assist in development of project guidance for structural engineering.
• Travel up to 25% domestically/abroad.
