Job summary

Realta Fusion Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the development of our reactor-scale fusion platform.

You will design beamline and vacuum-ready components, perform structural and thermal analyses, and work with vendors to fabricate and assemble prototypes. You will collaborate with engineering and science teams, participate in safety standard development, and support the broader mission to advance fusion energy from lab to world.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field plus 3–5 years of experience
• Proficient in 3D CAD design with SolidWorks, NX, Creo, etc.
• Familiar with PDM and ability to read mechanical drawings and P&IDs
• Experience with engineering analysis including statics, heat transfer, stress, and deflection (hand or FEA)
• Hands-on machine shop experience and fabricating complex parts (welding, brazing, EDM, waterjet, milling)
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-team work

Responsibilities

• Create 3D models and drawings for beamline and fusion device components for ultra-high vacuum environments
• Design and develop mechanical fusion components and subsystems
• Perform mechanical design analyses including stress, thermal, fatigue; carry out FEA as needed
• Coordinate lifting/rigging planning for heavy components
• Work with vendors and internal teams to fabricate, assemble, test, and validate components
• Provide hands-on support in fabrication and assembly of prototypes and lab systems
• Present technical work to project teams and leadership, contributing to safety standards and best practices
