Job summary

Consign Furniture is seeking a dependable, organized Furniture Sales & Consignment Specialist to join our team. You will assist customers on the showroom floor, answer phones, emails and text messages, help keep the showroom clean and organized, and help decide which furniture we accept for consignment.

This is a hands-on role reviewing consignor submissions, learning furniture knowledge, and working closely with sales, customer service, receiving and management to provide excellent customer

Consign Furniture is looking for a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Furniture Sales & Consignment Specialist to join our team.

This is a hands-on position with a variety of responsibilities. You won't spend your entire shift doing one thing. You'll assist customers on the showroom floor, answer phones, emails and text messages, help keep the showroom clean and organized, and play an important role in determining which furniture we accept for consignment.

A Major Part of This Job: Furniture Pre-Screening

One of the most important responsibilities of this position is reviewing photos submitted by potential consignors and determining whether their furniture meets our acceptance criteria.

This requires good judgment and a willingness to develop strong furniture knowledge. You'll need to learn how to recognize furniture styles, brands, quality, construction, condition issues, current demand and overall resale potential.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review furniture photos submitted by potential consignors and pre-screen items according to company acceptance criteria
• Communicate professionally with consignors regarding furniture submissions and next steps
• Develop strong knowledge of furniture brands, styles, construction, quality, condition and resale potential
• Greet customers and assist them throughout the showroom
• Help customers locate furniture and décor that meets their needs
• Assist with sales and complete customer transactions
• Answer incoming phone calls professionally
• Respond to customer and consignor emails and text messages
• Provide information regarding our consignment process, inventory, deliveries, pickups and store policies
• Maintain a clean, organized and attractive showroom
• Straighten furniture, décor and displays throughout the day
• Help identify merchandise that needs attention, cleaning, repositioning or retagging
• Work closely with sales, customer service, receiving and management
• Assist with other showroom and customer-service duties as needed

The ideal candidate:

• Has excellent customer-service and communication skills
• Is comfortable speaking with customers in person, over the phone and through email/text
• Has an interest in furniture, home furnishings, interior design, resale or retail
• Pays close attention to details
• Can learn and consistently apply company standards
• Is comfortable telling a potential consignor that an item isn't a good fit while remaining professional and courteous
• Can recognize differences in furniture quality and condition or is eager to learn
• Is organized and able to switch between multiple responsibilities throughout the day
• Takes initiative instead of waiting to be told what needs to be done
• Understands that keeping the showroom clean and organized is everyone's responsibility
• Is dependable, punctual and works well as part of a team

Furniture Experience

Previous furniture, home furnishings, interior design, consignment, resale or retail experience is strongly preferred, but we will consider candidates with strong customer-service experience who demonstrate an ability and willingness to learn furniture.
