Job description

• Support ESH Compliance


• Follow plant safety rules and procedures for handling phosphates


• Follow applicable ICL safety requirements and plant emergency procedures


• Complete required training


• Perform work safely, in an environmentally sound manner, and in accordance with cGMP requirements


• Pack materials using manual, semi-automatic, and automated packing systems


• Restock packaging supplies


• Load and unload trailers using a fork truck


• Load and unload bulk trucks


• Perform clean-up and housekeeping


• Troubleshoot process problems and product flow


• Check and adjust feed liquor specific gravity


• Operate furnace burners, level, and temperature controls


• Pump feed liquor to furnaces and control flow


• Operate auxiliary equipment including chill wheel, elevator, Buffalo mills, hammer mill, hummer screen, Rotex screener, dust collector, baggers, cooling tower, product scalping screeners, pneumatic blowers, bucket elevators, and conveyors

Requirements

• Applicants must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED


• Must be able to work in confined areas while wearing protective clothing & equipment


• Must be able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision, rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays


• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and computer applications


• Good reading and comprehensive skills


• Must be able to learn new duties and progress to chemical operator level


• Must be capable of operating a fork truck


• Must reside within a commutable distance to Lawrence, KS


• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not provided


• Candidates requiring current or future work-authorization sponsorship are not eligible


• Must successfully complete RCRA introductory/orientation training


• Must successfully complete RCRA annual refresher training


• Must be capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs. farther than 10 feet on a frequent basis


• Prior experience in food grade manufacturing or chemical plant is a differentiator
