Job summary

Materion is seeking a Furnace Builder to join our Elmore, OH team. You will work with a furnace rebuild crew to refurbish and maintain furnaces and related equipment, following SOPs and quality procedures to ensure smooth material flow to customers.

You will plan, inspect and execute maintenance tasks, learn welding/brazing, and collaborate with Maintenance and Electrical departments to minimize downtime, while upholding safety and 5S standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED as a requirement.
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints and use measuring devices.
• Knowledge of furnace materials and rebuild procedures.
• Ability to learn welding, brazing, silver soldering and cutting various materials.
• Experience with welding, torching and fabrication equipment.
• Experience with electrical systems preferred.
• Knowledge of refractories and contaminants to prevent contamination.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office and email).
• Good verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Works with furnace rebuild crew to refurbish and maintain furnaces and related equipment.
• Performs tasks per SOPs and quality procedures to maintain material flow.
• Plans and inspects work; safety and environmental hazard awareness.
• Maintains clean, hazard-free work area; reports irregularities beyond own control.
• Collaborates with maintenance and electrical teams to reduce downtime.
• Performs pipefitting, rigging and minor sheet metal fabrication and repairs.
• Ensures compliance with PPE and 5S standards; supports continuous improvement.
