Job summary

Materion Corporation in Ohio seeks a skilled maintenance technician to refurbish and maintain furnaces and related equipment across the facility. You will work from drawings and blueprints, follow SOPs, and contribute to safe, reliable operations.

The role involves welding, brazing, basic fabrication, troubleshooting, and collaborating with Maintenance and Electrical teams to reduce downtime. Strong safety focus and readiness to learn new techniques are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must work independently or as part of a team to meet demands.
• Ability to read drawings/blueprints and use measuring devices for close tolerance work.
• Broad knowledge of furnace materials and rebuild procedures for plant applications.
• Ability to learn welding, brazing, silver soldering, and cutting various materials.
• Knowledge of refractories and contaminants to prevent contamination in processes.
• Experience with welding, torching, and fabrication equipment (press brakes, shears, etc.).
• Experience with tow-motors, sandblasting, rigging, and large hoists preferred.
• Electrical systems experience preferred.
• Knowledge of induction, annealing, heat treat, and arc furnace refractories preferred.
• Brick laying knowledge preferred.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email).
• Must demonstrate mechanical ability and good verbal/written skills.
• Basic math skills required.
• Customer service oriented interpersonal skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in continuous improvement by suggesting ideas to Supervisors and Leads.
• Performs to SOPs/Quality Procedures to maintain material flow to customers.
• Recognizes hazards and responds to safety/environmental situations.
• Recognizes materials and breakdowns to determine causes and corrective actions.
• Plans and inspects work and repairs/maintains equipment.
• Safely performs preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on equipment.
• Recommends improvements to processes and equipment to reduce waste.
• Keeps equipment and workspace clean and hazards-free.
• Keeps lead operator informed of needed supplies, repairs, or service.
• Collaborates with Maintenance and Electrical departments to reduce downtime.
• Handles and disposes of wastes per procedures.
