The Weir Group is seeking a Furnace Operator at Newton, MS, on 2nd shift (1:00pm–11:15pm, Mon–Thu). You will operate the furnace, maintain refractory lining, and ensure safety while collecting data for production tracking.

Prior manufacturing or furnace experience is helpful; strong attendance and reliability are essential for daily operations. This role supports Weir ESCO’s commitment to safe, efficient steelmaking and lean improvement, with opportunities for growth and training within a global

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED must have.
• Follow safety procedures and work instructions precisely.
• Strong work ethic, reliability and consistent attendance.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and process logging.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments is preferred.
• Experience operating industrial equipment or furnace-related processes is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Operate the furnace to melt steel into a molten bath and monitor temperatures daily.
• Maintain and repair refractory lining inside the furnace with specialized equipment.
• Keep the work area clean, follow PPE and safety protocols, support 6S/Kaizen.
• Capture operational data and update dashboards for production tracking.
• Commit to zero-harm safety culture and contribute to safety initiatives.

You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.**What you’ll do**⦿ **Furnace Operation:** Operate the furnace to melt steel into a molten bath, ensuring the correct charge is placed and following the electronic heat log steps on the computer subsystem. You will remain with the furnace during operation, take temperatures, and monitor melting parameters daily. Success means operating independently after training, maintaining process accuracy, and ensuring safety compliance.⦿ **Refractory Maintenance**: Maintain and repair the refractory lining inside the furnace using specialized equipment to apply protective coatings, ensuring the furnace’s integrity and longevity.⦿ **Safety and Cleanliness:** Keep the work area clean and free of hazards, perform frequent cleaning, and adhere strictly to PPE and safety protocols.
