Job summary

Specialized Talent Acquisition Recruiting Team (START) in Fraser, MI is seeking a maintenance technician to assist with installation, maintenance, and repairs of furnaces and related equipment. The role includes preventive maintenance and troubleshooting under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and basic experience; ability to read prints is helpful. Hi-lo license and confined space training are encouraged, with safety as a priority.

  • Read and interpret prints and schematics; follow maintenance procedures.

Job description

DESCRIPTION

Aids in the installation, maintenance, repairs of all furnaces, secondary equipment & physical structures. Conducting and maintaining the Preventive Maintenance System.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Equipment preventative / predictive maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and repair problems with supervision
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, welding, & pipefitting
  • Safety training

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None – unless assigned to maintenance department.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Additional training needs will be identified during employee appraisals.

General maintenance skills, Familiar with industrial maintenance is a plus. Ability to read prints.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, but not required. One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete Maintenance Request Forms.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Hi-lo license. Confined Space permits and or training.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Complete Client course on confined space and lockout.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to extreme heat & open flames. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
