Job summary

Bayer in Chesterfield, MO is offering a co-op role in Fungal Discovery & Genomics. You will support isolation, characterization, and genomic analyses of entomopathogenic fungi for insect control applications, gaining hands-on experience in microbiology, molecular biology, and biotechnology research.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D., with interest in genomics, bioinformatics, and natural product characterization. On-site role with competitive compensation and benefits is provided.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Plant Pathology, or a related field.
• Experience with microbial or fungal culturing techniques preferred.
• Strong laboratory documentation and organizational skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize protocols for isolation, purification, and cultivation of diverse fungal species from environmental samples.
• Screen, identify, and maintain fungal isolates; document isolate metadata and laboratory records.
• Assist with DNA extraction and sample preparation for genome sequencing and downstream analyses; collaborate with genomics and bioinformatics teams.
