Job summary

Columbus Technical College is seeking a Funeral Service Instructor to provide classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction in the Funeral Services Education Program. Responsibilities include lesson plan development, student evaluation, and maintaining safety standards across classrooms and labs.

The ideal candidate will have a BA or higher, ABFSE accreditation, and Georgia Funeral Director’s and Embalmer’s licenses, plus at least two years in-field experience; willingness to pursue a master’s

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Willingness to earn a Master’s degree within 5 years of hire.
• Graduate of ABFSE-accredited funeral service education program.
• Must hold valid Georgia Funeral Director’s license.
• Must hold valid Georgia Embalmer’s license.
• Two years paid work experience in-field within the past seven years.
• Excellent human-relations and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and plans for instruction and delivers instruction to students in the Funeral Service Education program.
• Develops program syllabi, goals and objectives.
• Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and helps prepare budget requests.
• Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
• Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional program and other issues.
• Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
• Sustain ABFSE accreditation.
• Prepares appropriate curricula and non-traditional content/methods to achieve objectives.
• Prepares lesson plans, lectures, and course outlines.
• Ensures adherence to safety requirements in classrooms and labs.
