Job description

Our Mission: Care. Comfort. Plan.

At Greenwood Memorial Park, Mortuary & Crematory, we're building on more than a century of service to San Diego and seeking a Funeral Home Manager who is ready to lead from the front and help shape what comes next. Established in 1907, Greenwood is a respected name in the San Diego community with a long history of serving families during some of the most important moments of their lives. Today, we're investing in that legacy with a newly renovated funeral home and office space, a strong focus on our people, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for every family we serve. This is more than managing daily funeral home operations. The Funeral Home Manager will have the opportunity to influence the family experience from the first call through final arrangements, develop the next generation of funeral professionals, and help lead an established organization into its next chapter. If you're an accessible, resourceful, hands-on leader who takes ownership, develops people, and understands that exceptional service begins with a strong team, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the funeral home team by fostering a culture of accountability, communication, collaboration, and exceptional service.
  • Direct day-to-day operations while maintaining high standards of service, compliance, and business performance.
  • Guide families through the arrangement process, ensuring compassionate, professional, and consistent care.
  • Develop and mentor Funeral Directors, Funeral Arrangers, support staff, and emerging leaders through coaching, training, feedback, and succession planning.
  • Support case volume, revenue objectives, and operational efficiency while maintaining expense discipline.
  • Build relationships with local organizations, churches, hospitals, hospices, care facilities, veterans’ organizations, and community partners.
  • Partner across funeral home, cemetery, crematory, administration, and sales teams to create a seamless family experience.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen performance, and drive long-term success.
Why Greenwood & NorthStar?
  • Lead an established and respected San Diego funeral home serving the community since 1907.
  • Work from a newly renovated funeral home and office environment.
  • Cell phone allowance.
  • The opportunity to lead and develop an experienced team of funeral professionals.
  • A culture where learning, coaching, and professional development are part of how we operate.
  • The ability to build meaningful relationships throughout the San Diego community.
  • Be part of a company recognized as a USA Today 2026 Top Workplace.

And then there's San Diego. With year-round outdoor activities, beautiful weather, stunning beaches, and easy access to everything the region has to offer, this is an opportunity to grow your career in one of the country's most desirable places to live and work. At NorthStar Memorial Group, we value dedication, recognize potential, invest in our people, and celebrate ethical leadership. At Greenwood, you won't simply manage a funeral home. You'll develop people, serve families, strengthen community relationships, and help shape the next chapter of a legacy that began in 1907.
