Job summary

Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in the United States is seeking a Funeral Director Intern to shadow all areas of the funeral home, learning the processes and personal interactions involved in planning arrangements and running services.

You will take the lead on arrangements under supervision, join Transfer and Care Center teams, and participate in hands-on tasks including embalming and preparation for services, with on-call duties as required.

Qualifications

• English fluency required.
• Associate’s degree from an accredited Mortuary Science program.
• Pennsylvania Funeral Director Intern license or ability to attain one.
• United States work authorization; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Shadow all areas of the Funeral Home.
• Learn processes for planning arrangements and running services under supervision.
• Take the lead on arrangements after gaining experience.
• Work with Transfer Team during regular hours and on-call shifts.
• Participate in the Care Center Team: dressing, casketing, embalming, and prep for services.

Under supervision of a Licensed Funeral Director, to learn the processes and personal interactions involved in planning arrangements and running services.

Take the lead on arrangements

After gaining experience and the appropriate knowledge of service options, merchandise offerings, and the Snyder Way of conducting arrangements and planning/running services.

Work as a member of our Transfer Team

Both during regular business hours and as a member of our On Call team.

Participate hands-on as a member of our Care Center Team

This includes dressing, casketing, embalming, and all steps required to prepare those in our care for services and final disposition.

Other Duties And Responsibilities

As assigned, such as filing death certificates, creating and printing stationery, crematory operations.

Requirements

Education

Associate’s degree from an accredited Mortuary Science program.

Licensure

Pennsylvania Funeral Director Intern License (or the ability to attain one).

Physical Ability

Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs.

Work Authorization

Ability to work in the United States. Valid driver’s license required.

Language Skills

English fluency. Spanish-speaking a plus but not required.
