Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking an on-call funeral service associate to support families with funeral arrangements, cremation and interment, under supervision of a licensed funeral director.

Responsibilities include handling first calls, coordinating with families, preparing ceremonies, and ensuring compliance with policies and licensing. The role requires compassion, communication, and meticulous attention to detail in a sensitive environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of or enrollment in mortuary science related program as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• On-call duties: taking first calls, talking with families, answering questions, and transferring responsibilities.
• Supervise and care for the deceased with dignity; prepare embalming and related tasks.
• Arrange and conduct funerals and memorial ceremonies professionally and in accordance with policies.
• Negotiate funeral contracts and handle contracts, documents, and payments.
• Inform families of veterans services and ensure delivery of requested recognitions.
• Arrange interment or cremation of remains.
• Confirm authorization to proceed with service arrangements.
• Supervise/assist in funeral services (parking, ushering, driving, ceremony support, cemetery work).
• Ensure compliance with licensing and regulations.
• Provide aftercare when needed and refer pre-need opportunities.
• Prepare service documents and online entries; manage records.
• Engage with community groups to grow market share.
