Summary/Objective
This position serves as the primary contact for client families, managing tasks during funeral preparations and services to ensure smooth operations and exceed client expectations.
Essential Functions
- Consult with families to create memorial services that meet their expectations.
- Present all available merchandise and service options to families.
- Handle documentation such as obituaries, death certificates, and permits.
- Coordinate with clergy, organizations, and other participants in funeral services.
- Record merchandise selections, enter contracts, and complete forms using systems.
- Prepare and embalm the deceased with dignity and in compliance with legal standards.
- Ensure all paperwork, including permits and certificates, is completed accurately and timely.
- Utilize embalming instruments safely and correctly.
- Follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment.
- Dress, apply cosmetics, and perform casketing duties.
- Plan and conduct visitations and services.
- Supervise staff involved in services, ensuring professionalism.
- Arrange visitation area setup per family wishes.
- Guide families and attendees during services.
- Supervise transportation of remains and coordinate shipments.
- Instruct and oversee Apprentice Funeral Directors/Embalmers.
- Maintain preparation rooms and refrigeration units.
- Work on-call as needed.
- Identify and address hazards on grounds.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
- Four-year degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- At least 5 years’ licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer experience.
- Valid state Funeral Director and Embalmer License in good standing.
- Valid driver’s license with a good record.

Physical Demands & Environment
- Indoor and outdoor work, exposure to elements and chemicals.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds, climb, sit, stand, and bend.
- Work may require being awakened from sleep for on-call duties.
Travel
- Up to 10% local and overnight travel.
