MOSES (Metropolitan Organizing Strategy Enabling Strength) is a faith‑rooted, congregation‑centered community organizing network building people power. For over two decades, we have developed grassroots leaders, strengthened civic participation, and advanced policies that promote racial, economic, and health justice.

We organize congregations and community leaders across Metro Detroit and other regions to build long‑term power rooted in relationships, leadership development, and public action.

Position Overview

This part‑time role (20–25 hours/week, hybrid) involves collaborating with the Executive Director to expand MOSES’ fundraising strategy, manage grants, support individual donor cultivation, and build long‑term sustainability for the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and identify prospective foundation and institutional funders.
  • Draft, edit, and submit grant proposals and reports.
  • Maintain a grant calendar with deadlines and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with program staff to gather outcomes, stories, and data.
  • Ensure compliance with c3/c4 funding restrictions.
  • Support the development of the annual fundraising plan.
  • Coordinate donor cultivation strategies and follow‑up systems.
  • Assist with major donor tracking and engagement.
  • Strengthen congregational giving systems and sponsorship strategies.
  • Support planning for fundraising events (annual breakfast, public events).
  • Maintain donor database and gift tracking systems.
  • Develop dashboards to track revenue goals and projections.
  • Support donor acknowledgment and stewardship processes.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager to ensure reconciliation and reporting alignment.
  • Assist the Executive Director with funder communications and relationship mapping.
  • Help build multi‑year funding strategies aligned with the 2026–2028 strategic plan.
  • Prepare board‑ready fundraising reports and summaries.
  • Support board engagement in development activities.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development.
  • Proven experience writing successful grant proposals.
  • Strong organizational and project‑management skills.
  • Familiarity with donor databases and CRM systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
  • Commitment to racial justice, faith‑based organizing, and community power‑building.
Preferred Attributes
  • Experience working with faith communities or organizing networks.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills.
  • Comfort working with boards and executive leadership.
  • Strategic thinker who can build systems, not just execute tasks.
Compensation

Competitive hourly rate based on experience ($30–$40/hour range), flexible hybrid work schedule, and an opportunity to shape the long‑term sustainability of a statewide organizing network.
