Job summary

SDL Search Partners is assisting a boutique real estate private equity firm in Boston in hiring a Fund Controller. This highly visible role oversees a key portfolio and a small accounting team, partnering with senior leadership and external stakeholders.

You will own investor reporting, all aspects of fund accounting, and the preparation of monthly financial statements, plus valuation analysis and reporting.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus but not required.
• 8–12 years of fund accounting and real estate fund experience.
• Progressive private equity experience with some management experience.
• Strong knowledge of fund accounting, investor reporting, audit prep and partnership accounting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a key real estate fund portfolio and a small accounting team.
• Lead investor reporting and all aspects of fund accounting.
• Review monthly financial statement preparation and lead valuation analysis and reporting.
• Partner with CFO, senior leadership and external stakeholders on strategic analytics.

Boutique real estate private equity firm is looking to add a Fund Controller to their team. This role will oversee one of the most critical portfolios for the firm, with several unique, high-profile assets.

Working with a top-tier accounting team, the Fund Controller will oversee a small team, and will lead investor reporting, all aspects of fund accounting, review monthly financial statement prep and lead valuation analysis and reporting.

This is highly visible role in the organization and will work closely with senior leadership and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate has excellent business partnering and communication skills in addition to a strong technical fund accounting expertise & real estate knowledge.

Qualifications:

• BS, Accounting / Finance
• CPA a plus, not required
• 8 - 12 years of fund accounting & real estate fund experience
• Progressive experience in private equity, including some management experience
• In depth knowledge of fund accounting, investor reporting, audit prep and management, partnership accounting, capital accounts & waterfall mechanics
• Strong system skills including Yardi would be a plus
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable acting as go-to for outside investors, key stakeholders and JV partners
• Able to support CFO and senior leadership on strategic decision making and necessary analytics and reporting to support decision-making
• Interested in growing long term with the firm
