Job summary

Apollo is a global asset manager seeking a senior Principal to lead the growing Sponsor and Secondary Solutions (S3) business. You will oversee accounting, operations, and financial reporting, and build scalable infrastructure to support product and AUM growth.

Collaborate with senior leaders, enhance operating models, and drive automation across processes while partnering with internal teams to solve complex challenges.

Qualifications

• CPA preferred; 13 to 15+ years of public and/or private accounting experience preferred.
• Significant prior experience within the secondaries or fund of fund industry required, with a strong understanding of secondary fund structures, operations and reporting.
• Strong U.S. GAAP technical accounting expertise.
• Significant accounting, controlling and financial reporting experience, with the ability and desire to take ownership of financial responsibilities for one of Apollo's highest growth asset classes.
• Demonstrated experience improving operating models, building scalable processes and infrastructure, and driving operational change.
• Strong orientation toward technology, automation and continuous process improvement including AI adoption into processes and governance.
• Critical thinker with strong quantitative and analytical skills who communicates ideas clearly in both written and verbal communications.
• Ability to operate effectively in a team environment, exercise sound judgment, elevate issues when appropriate and prioritize competing demands.
• Proactive and organized self starter with strong attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with AI tools, Alteryx, Anaplan or Power BI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage the accounting, operations and financial reporting of products across the S3 strategy.
• Help advance the strategy's target operating model and build scalable infrastructure, processes and controls to support continued product and AUM growth.
• Oversee data governance processes across various vendors, third party administrators, and portfolio monitoring systems.
• Analyze and review budgets across multiple Fund entities. Work across teams to improve modeling of liquidity and projections.
• Assist in planning and infrastructure around new products within S3, including potential RFPs.
• Oversee and manage client requests ad-hoc as well as during episodic fundraising campaigns.
• Partner closely with internal stakeholders across Deal Team, Client Teams, Corporate, Operations, Marketing, Tax, Legal and Technology.
• Provide oversight, coaching and review of junior team members.
• Lead and execute ad hoc strategic and operational projects for senior leadership.

The Principal will join a team of professionals supporting Apollo's growing Sponsor and Secondary Solutions business ("S3"), a market leading private markets secondaries business with $14bn + AUM and growing capital across drawdown funds, managed accounts, and evergreen/registered products. The Principal will collaborate closely with senior leaders across S3 and Apollo on all aspects of the role.

This individual will have a newly created senior role tasked with overseeing the further build out of the expanding S3 business line and implementation of the target operating model. The role will include oversight of the accounting, operations and financial reporting of the strategy. The Principal will focus on building scalable infrastructure and processes to support continued growth, driving improvements and automation across operations and reporting, and partnering with stakeholders across the organization to solve complex business and operational challenges.
