Job summary

Brown Brothers Harriman seeks a Hedge Fund Controller to oversee accounting, financial reporting and tax reporting for private real estate and hedge funds within the Capital Partners Funds Finance team. You will interface with fund administrators, portfolio managers, tax advisors and internal BBH teams to ensure accurate financial statements and compliant reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, 7‑8 years of relevant experience with strong partnership accounting skills.
• Real Estate Fund experience.
• CPA (or equivalent) preferred with big‑4 experience.
• Understanding of K‑1 and Partnership tax reporting.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and solve problems independently.
• Strong communication skills to elevate and resolve issues with Service Providers.

Responsibilities

• Review quarterly financial reporting from service providers for multiple private real estate funds and hedge funds.
• Review monthly/quarterly property‑level financial reporting from sub‑advisors and joint‑venture partners.
• Lead the annual Fund audited financial statement function, footnotes and workbooks, and manage audit deliverables.
• Develop understanding of each private real estate fund via structure charts, PPMs and LPAs.
• Manage Funds’ tax quarterly and annual deliverables including partnership returns and K‑1 coordination.
• Own quarterly budget process and ensure expenses are paid timely with strong internal controls.
• Review Fund analytics such as IRRs and maintain performance metrics for reporting.
• Own calculation of management fees, HWM fees and carried interest per governing documents.
• Coordinate capital calls, distributions, and redemption payments.
