Manager, Fund Accounting - Private Equity
Our client, a leading private equity firm with a strong track record of investing across the media, communications, and education sectors, is looking to add a Fund Accounting Manager to their growing team in Providence. The firm has a global presence and a collaborative, highly sophisticated investment platform.
They are looking to add a Manager, Fund Accounting to their finance team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of fund accounting but also wants meaningful ownership, exposure to senior leadership, and the opportunity to work across complex private equity structures.
$130K-$155K base salary dependent on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting across multiple private equity fund structures
- Manage third-party fund administrators and review financial statement packages
- Review complex accounting matters, including carried interest and waterfall calculations
- Lead the year-end audit process and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors
- Oversee capital calls, distributions, investor allocations, and notices
- Manage credit facilities, including drawdowns, repayments, and covenant compliance
- Review management fees, fund expenses, and related allocations
- Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and banking activity
- Partner with internal teams on investor reporting and ad hoc financial analysis
- Interpret LPAs and side letters to ensure accounting, allocations, and distributions align with governing documents
- Oversee NAV calculations and related compliance reporting
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and lead special projects across the finance function
- Manage and develop team members
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5–7+ years of progressive experience in private equity fund accounting and/or Big 4 with significant private equity exposure
- CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and private equity fund structures
- Experience managing and developing team members
- Advanced Excel skills
- Investran and Workday experience preferred
- Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
- Ability to interpret complex legal documents, including LPAs and side letters
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with senior leadership, auditors, administrators, and investors
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
