Job summary

Coda Search is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead fund accounting and financial reporting for a growing private equity portfolio. The role supports the deal team through the investment lifecycle and interfaces with external auditors and administrators.

You should have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, 8+ years in PE/real estate/investment accounting, strong GAAP expertise, and advanced Excel skills. CPA is highly desirable and familiarity with fund reporting platforms is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA highly desirable.
• 8+ years of accounting experience in private equity, real estate, investment management, or public accounting.
• Thorough knowledge of fund accounting, partnership accounting, and investment reporting.
• Experience assisting investment and deal teams in a fast-moving environment.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; familiarity with fund reporting platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial reporting for private equity funds and vehicles.
• Prepare quarterly and annual GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Lead monthly/quarterly close: journal entries, reconciliations, workpapers.
• Assist deal team with transactions and closing procedures.
• Serve as main contact for auditors and fund administrators.
• Produce investor reporting packages and capital account statements.
• Evaluate allocations, waterfalls, and carried interest calculations.
• Support cash management, liquidity forecasting, and treasury functions.
• Uphold internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

Coda Search has partnered with a well-regarded private equity firm that is looking to bring on an Assistant Controller to join its expanding finance and accounting team. This individual will be central to managing fund accounting operations, supporting the deal team across every stage of the investment process, and contributing to financial reporting and fund accounting activities throughout the platform.

Responsibilities

• Help manage financial reporting for a range of private equity funds and investment vehicles
• Prepare and evaluate quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP
• Lead the monthly and quarterly close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting workpapers
• Assist the deal team with transaction execution and closing procedures
• Serve as a point of contact for external auditors and fund administrators
• Produce investor reporting packages, capital account statements, and performance reviews
• Evaluate partnership allocations, distribution waterfalls, and carried interest calculations
• Contribute to cash management, liquidity forecasting, and treasury functions
• Uphold and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and operating procedures
