Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to join the Product Development team in Lincoln, NE. You will apply ISO 26262 principles across vehicle technologies, collaborate with global experts, and develop safety analyses, concepts, and requirements to deliver safe, robust systems.

You'll work with software, controls, electrical/electronic hardware, and MBSE processes to improve traceability and ensure safety across domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
• 2+ years of experience in engineering software-enabled, electrical/electronic, mechanical, systems, controls, or embedded vehicle systems.
• 4+ years of experience applying systems engineering concepts in cross-functional development.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with global Product Development teams to perform ISO 26262 analysis for new and carry-over vehicle technologies.
• Develop, maintain, and deliver Functional Safety work products (safety analyses, concepts, requirements, documentation).
• Identify hazards, define safety requirements, and support safe system design decisions with SMEs across domains.
• Apply Ford safety processes, methods, and MBSE practices to ensure traceability and consistency.
