Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to support ISO 26262 analysis for vehicle technologies within a global Product Development team. You will develop safety work products, collaborate across disciplines, and apply MBSE/SysML to ensure clear, traceable safety outcomes.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, rigorous safety practice, and continuous process improvement within a hybrid work arrangement that combines onsite and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE, ME, AE or CS or equivalent combo of education and experience.
• 2+ years engineering software-enabled vehicle systems experience.
• 3+ years reading, interpreting, and authoring technical requirements and docs.
• 4+ years applying systems engineering concepts in cross-functional development.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional and global Product Development teams to perform ISO 26262 Functional Safety analysis for new and carry-over vehicle technologies.
• Develop, maintain, and deliver Functional Safety work products, including safety analyses, ratings, concepts, requirements, and supporting documentation.
• Work with SMEs in software, controls, systems, hardware to identify hazards, define safety requirements, and support safe design decisions.
• Apply Ford Functional Safety processes, methods, tools, and training to ensure consistent execution and traceability of safety activities.
• Use MBSE and SysML to improve clarity, reuse, integration, and efficiency of Functional Safety analysis.
• Support globally common safety ratings, methods, tools, and training materials for alignment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that simplify processes and improve delivery speed while preserving safety.
• Communicate technical conclusions clearly through documentation, reviews, and cross-functional discussions.
