About Optimal You Wellness Center
Optimal You Wellness Center is a functional and integrative wellness practice dedicated to helping patients uncover and address the underlying factors contributing to their health concerns. Our personalized approach combines advanced testing, functional medicine, nutrition, lifestyle interventions, and ongoing patient support to create meaningful, sustainable improvements in health.
About The Role
The Functional Nutrition Practitioner will initially work closely with our physicians and Clinical Care Director, supporting the implementation and management of individualized patient care plans while becoming familiar with the Optimal You approach.
As the provider demonstrates clinical competency, sound judgment, and familiarity with our systems, they will progressively assume responsibility for their own patient panel.
Our goal is to develop a provider who can independently assess functional nutrition needs, evaluate relevant laboratory findings, and create and manage individualized nutrition, lifestyle, and supplement protocols within their professional scope of practice.
This is not solely a health coaching or patient education position. We are seeking someone who already has meaningful functional nutrition experience and the clinical knowledge necessary to grow into an independent patient‑care role.
Key Responsibilities:
Functional Nutrition & Patient Care
- Conduct comprehensive functional nutrition assessments, reviewing health histories, symptoms, dietary patterns, lifestyle factors, and patient goals.
- Review conventional and specialty laboratory findings relevant to nutritional care, within professional scope.
- Develop individualized, evidence-informed nutrition, lifestyle, and supplement protocols based on patient assessments and clinical findings.
- Monitor patient progress, evaluate responses to interventions, and make appropriate adjustments to nutrition and supplement protocols.
- Support patients with gastrointestinal health, metabolic concerns, hormonal health from a nutritional perspective, inflammation, and other complex wellness concerns.
- Identify clinical concerns requiring physician evaluation and collaborate with the medical team as appropriate.
- Initially support physicians in the implementation, monitoring, and management of existing patient care plans.
- Participate in case reviews, clinical discussions, and collaborative care planning.
- Learn and consistently apply the Optimal You Method and established patient‑care workflows.
- Progress toward independently managing an assigned patient panel following demonstrated competency and leadership approval.
- Maintain accurate, timely patient documentation and communicate effectively with the clinical team.
Patient Experience & Practice Growth
- Build meaningful, supportive relationships that encourage patient engagement and long‑term success.
- Take ownership of assigned patients' progress, care milestones, and continuity of care.
- Identify appropriate opportunities for continued care, additional support, and wellness maintenance.
- Collaborate with the enrollment team when patients may benefit from additional services or continued care.
- Contribute to practice growth through excellent patient outcomes, retention, referrals, and effective management of an expanding patient panel.
- Maintain a patient‑centered approach that prioritizes clinical appropriateness and trust.
Qualifications:
Required
- Professional credentials and applicable licensure appropriate for providing individualized clinical nutrition services in Florida.
- Demonstrated experience in functional or integrative nutrition, beyond general health coaching.
- Advanced functional nutrition education or training, such as IFNCP, IFM, or comparable recognized programs.
- Experience developing individualized nutrition and supplement protocols.
- Ability to evaluate relevant laboratory findings and translate nutritional assessments into practical, personalized care plans within professional scope.
- Strong understanding of supplement safety, contraindications, and the importance of collaboration with medical providers.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, documentation, and patient relationship skills.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently while recognizing professional scope and clinical boundaries.
Preferred
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) or Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential, with appropriate Florida licensure.
- IFNCP certification or advanced functional nutrition training.
- Experience with specialty testing such as GI‑MAP, DUTCH, comprehensive blood chemistry, and other functional assessments.
- Previous experience in a functional medicine or integrative healthcare practice.
- Experience managing an ongoing patient caseload and developing long‑term patient relationships.
Schedule & Compensation:
This position will begin at approximately 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to increase hours as the practice and assigned patient panel grow.
Who We Are Looking For:
Our ideal candidate is someone who is genuinely passionate about functional medicine and nutrition, enjoys working through complex patient cases, and takes pride in developing thoughtful, individualized approaches to care.
You should feel equally comfortable collaborating with physicians, explaining nutritional concepts to patients, and taking ownership of your clinical responsibilities.
We're looking for someone who wants to grow with our practice, contribute to a positive team culture, and play an important role in expanding the care we can provide to our community.
If you're an experienced functional nutrition professional looking for an opportunity to combine meaningful patient relationships, clinical problem‑solving, and professional growth, we'd love to hear from you.
