Fully Remote Billing Specialist

Compensation Hourly $15.00 - 18.00 Hourly + Benefits

As a Billing Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in managing and maintaining accurate billing and collections processes, ensuring timely reimbursements, and supporting the financial health of our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete billing activities within specified timeframes

  • Maintain and update all billing information in billing databases

  • Audit billing sheets to ensure compliance and accuracy of services billed

  • Verify Medicaid and HMO eligibility as needed

  • Utilize knowledge of Medicaid billing codes and reimbursement rates

  • Handle extensive phone and electronic communications with professionalism

  • Respond to emails, calls, and inquiries in a timely and courteous manner

  • Support a positive and collaborative work environment

  • Participate in special projects and assignments as needed

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and training requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a financial/accounts receivable are) preferred

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in billing and collections (behavioral health or healthcare setting preferred)

  • Must successfully pass a background check

  • Willingness to complete 40 hours of training annually
