Apex Systems is seeking a hands-on Fullstack Java Developer for Jersey City, NJ. You will design, build, and operate resilient cloud-native Java applications with Spring-based microservices and Kafka-driven architectures.

You will collaborate with analysts, DevOps, and infrastructure to deliver secure, high-performance solutions and mature CI/CD practices. The role requires 6+ years of enterprise Java, expertise in Spring, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL, and containerization

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 6 years designing, developing enterprise Java applications (Java 17+).
• Expertise in Spring ecosystem, Kafka-based event-driven systems, and cloud-native patterns.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert for one or more applications.
• Collaborate with Business System Analysts to ensure design meets requirements.

Success requires deep expertise in Spring-based microservices, Kafka-centric architectures, cloud platforms, CI/CD automation, and operational excellence in a fast-paced, regulated environment.Key Responsibilities* Act as a technical expert on one or more applications.* Work with Business System Analysts to ensure designs satisfy functional requirements.* Partner with Infrastructure to identify and deploy optimal hosting environments.* Tune application performance to eliminate and reduce issues.* Contribute expertise to the design of components, and participate in construction, functional testing, troubleshooting, and production support.* Create applications and construct unit test cases that ensure compliance with functional and non-functional requirements.* Work with peers to mature ways of working, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.* Align risk and control processes into day-to-day responsibilities to monitor and mitigate risk.Required Qualifications**Education:** Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent experience.**Experience:** A minimum of 6 years of related experience in designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-grade applications using Enterprise Java (Version 17 and above), with extensive use of multithreading.**Technical Skills:*** Expertise with the Spring ecosystem: Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Kafka.* Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, including Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems.* Strong knowledge of caching strategies using tools like Redis and Spring Cache.* Deep experience with Aurora PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and schema design.* Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).* Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Maven), DevOps practices, and source control (BitBucket).* Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with an ability to work at velocity in two-week sprints.Preferred Qualifications* Cloud experience, particularly with AWS.* Experience with a modernization project, reimagining a legacy platform for a distributed environment.* Hands-on expertise with Liquibase for database versioning and migrations.This employer is an equal opportunity employer.
