Job summary

CityGate Hospitality LLC is seeking a Line Cook II for Hotel Arista in Naperville. You will prepare and present menu items, work under supervision, and help ensure an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or culinary education and 2+ years as a line cook, with knowledge of food safety and sanitation. Weekend shifts and holidays required; schedule includes multiple daytime slots.

Compensation Range:

$18-23/hour commensurate with experience and education.

Additional Requirements:

Must be available weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Shift times include 7am-3:30pm on weekends. Weekdays include 6am-2:30pm or 2:30pm-10:30pm.

Role Summary:

The Line Cook II is responsible for creating an exceptional culinary experience for restaurant guests through the preparation and presentation of the restaurant’s menu. A cook at this level requires moderate supervision and training.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists Cooks IV and III in the preparation of foods according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
  • Trains and supervises Cook I in the preparation of food.
  • Sets up station and ensures that the work area is operated in an efficient manner.
  • Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  • Restocks items as needed throughout shift.
  • Supports the cross-training efforts of the chef.
  • Informs supervisor of any kitchen machinery that is not working properly.
  • Properly stores food in designated containers and areas to prevent spoilage.
  • Assists in the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas
  • Be familiar with applicable emergency procedures and evacuations including fire, bomb threat, power failure, and injury to and illness of persons.
  • Follows hotel and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Culinary degree from a recognized culinary institute, or equivalent experience
Experience
  • Two or more years experience as a line cook
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
Skills
  • Neat and clean appearance
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular and continuing basis.
