Job summary

West Suburban YMCA in Newton, MA is seeking an energetic Personal Trainer/Health & Wellness Coordinator to help members reach their goals while delivering a welcoming YMCA experience. The role focuses on program development, staff orientation, and mentoring trainers to embody the YMCA culture.

You will support, train, and schedule trainers, foster strong relationships with members, contribute to revenue and program quality, and participate in special events.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in human services, recreation, or related field is preferred.
• Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification.
• Two years of personal training experience.
• Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).
• Ability to relate to diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and orienting personal trainers.
• Support member engagement and connect participants with trainers.
• Help monitor revenue goals for wellness programs and manage expenses.
• Lead onboarding and training for staff; model relationship-building.
• Coordinate scheduling for Fit Connect and member services.
• Support program evaluation and quality standards.
