Job summary

Wilbur Wright College in Chicago is seeking a full-time tenure-track instructor to teach Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning starting Spring 2027.

The Faculty will design courses, develop syllabi, and use diverse teaching methods to engage a multilingual student body and advance equity in instruction.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science or related IT field with 1 year of related occupational experience and two years of teaching experience.
• Two to three years of teaching experience at the college level preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to communicate persuasively with tact and diplomacy.
• Ability to work in a culturally diverse work environment; experience with multilingual student populations is desirable.
• Knowledge of Brightspace or similar LMS; online teaching experience (via Zoom) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

The Computer Information Systems (CIS) department of Wilbur Wright College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, seeks an innovative,collaborative, tenure-track instructor to teach ArtificialIntelligence and Machine Learning effective Spring 2027.

Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the full-timefaculty position conducts formal classes and meets all labobjectives, when applicable, for assigned courses. Full-timefaculty teach and evaluate students and prepare and revise coursesyllabi and other educational materials. Full-time faculty willhave demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and usingeffective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs andengage students in critical thinking and problem-solving.Additionally, full-time faculty contribute to the overall operationof the College, support the mission of the institution, and employthe philosophical commitment of the community collegeenvironment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Designs courses and prepares syllabi that have clearlyarticulated student learning objectives and learning outcomes thatpromote students’ active participation in their own learning.
• Teaches on-campus and/or online classes in a manner consistentwith the philosophy, policies, and guidelines of the college.
• Creates an effective learning environment that fostersstudents’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problemsolve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.Demonstratesexcellence in teaching and a commitment to integrating newtechnologies in the learning process.
• Helps students reach their academic, personal, and career goalsand fosters a safe environment that respects the diversity ofindividuals and ideas by modeling respect for all students andconveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.Developsreciprocity and cooperation among students. Encourages activelearning.
• Employs a variety of teaching methods such as lectures,discussions, demonstrations, projects, and field trips in effortsto meet students’ varying learning needs, abilities, and interestsand to optimize student outcomes.
• Works individually with students who may need specificassistance in reaching their academic, personal, and career goals.Models respect for all students and conveys confidence in everystudent’s ability to learn.
• Provides regular and useful feedback to students in anobjective, consistent, and timely manner; evaluates and documentsstudent performance using established methods and criteria andrecords course grades promptly.
• Employs a variety of formative and summative assessments toensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and theattainment of student learning outcomes for the course. Developsand designs an assessment program that ensures students’application and use of concepts, techniques, and innovationslearned both in the classroom and through external coursework.
• Stays abreast of innovations and current trends in one’sspecific academic discipline as they pertain to pedagogy andtechnology and continuously reflect on and refine their craft.
• Participates in professional development activities aimed atenhancing the Talents ofTeaching.
• Attends regularly scheduled departmental meetings andcontributes to campus and District committees.
• Contributes to and provides leadership in academic andprofessional communities and promotes collaboration and teamworkamong members of these communities.
• Adheres to City Colleges of Chicago’s student-centeredphilosophy. Fosters student involvement and commitment.
