Job summary

Kentwood Public School District is seeking a Special Education 1:1 Paraprofessional to support a dedicated student and assist in the general classroom environment. The role involves instructional support, data tracking, and collaboration with certified staff to meet IEP goals.

Responsibilities include assisting with assessments, differentiating materials, supervising lunch and bus duty, and participating in CPI training.

Qualifications

Two years of study at an institution of higher learning (60 credits) or an associate’s degree or higher, or pass an approved state assessment.
Experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
Willingness to participate in professional development as identified by school leadership.

Responsibilities

Assist and guide students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning skills.
Assist staff with classroom assignments and assessments.
Support differentiation of instructional materials per student needs.
Attend CPI training and maintain certification.
Document student progress in data tracking systems aligned with IEPs/PCS/PBSPs.
Supervise non-instructional activities (lunch, bus duty, playground, etc.).
Assist in medical, grooming, and self-care tasks per PCS.
Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
Communicate with parents to encourage involvement in education.
