Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools is seeking a Special Education 1:1 Paraprofessional at Pinewood Middle School to support a dedicated student and assist in classroom and non-instructional activities. The role emphasizes 1:1 supervision, instructional support, and collaboration with certified staff.

Responsibilities include assisting with IEP goals, data tracking, and field-trip supervision, along with routine duties needed to maintain an inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher learning (equal to 60 credits) OR Associate's degree OR pass an approved state assessment.
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
• CPI training or willingness to participate may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students individually or in small groups to reinforce essential learning skills.
• Assist staff in administering classroom assignments and assessments.
• Differentiate instructional materials and skills per student needs; prepare and distribute materials as needed.
• Complete CPI training and maintain certification as scheduled.
• Document student progress in data tracking systems aligned with IEPs and PBSPs.
• Supervise non-instructional activities (lunch, buses, playground, etc.).
• Assist with personal care needs as required.
• accompanies students on field trips to assist with supervision.
• Communicate with parents to foster involvement in education.
• Support students with disabilities to maximize inclusion and achievement.
