Creative Works in Lewiston, ME is hiring a full-time Special Olympics Coordinator for the Community Services Day Program. The role supports individuals with disabilities to participate in Special Olympics activities, promoting self-esteem, confidence, and independence.

You will plan events with program leaders, manage schedules, ensure medical forms are up-to-date, and advocate for participants. The job requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift and assist participants when

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid US Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
• Experience with Special Olympics related service position preferred.
• Experience supporting people with disabilities a plus.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English to perform the essential functions.
• Must have, or be willing to obtain, DSP, CPR, and WELLE within four months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all CW Special Olympics programs.
• Advocate for assigned individuals and maintain family/community relationships.
• Attend to participants' personal care needs, including transfers.
• Transport participants using company or personal vehicle.
• Create and implement Special Olympics events calendar and practice schedule.
• Ensure medical forms are up to date for participants.
• Ensure staff trainings are up to date.
• Build community relationships to secure space for activities.
• Communicate with guardians and case managers to schedule events.
• Maintain daily logs, files, and accident/incident reports.
• Keep facilities clean and safe.
• Remain patient, empathetic, and flexible; solve problems.
• Work well in a team and independently; adapt communication to needs.
