Job summary

Miriam Learning Center in St. Louis City is seeking a Full Time SPED Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to work with grades K-5 in a general education/special education classroom during school hours Monday - Friday.

The successful candidate will write and update IEPs, manage the SPED process, provide IEP minutes and consultation, and collaborate with the SPED Supervisor and school staff to support student progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited school.
• Missouri certification in special education is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in special education and/or general education.
• Experience with grades K-5.
• Experience in providing educational services to children and/or adolescents with educational disabilities or learning difficulties.
• Ability to use computer and web-based programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and Spedtrack.

Responsibilities

• Provide a professional assessment of each child’s weaknesses and strengths as they relate to school subjects and/or educational diagnosis.
• Provide direct and consult services to students in accordance with their IEPs.
• Update students’ IEPs, including present level of performance, appropriate measurable goals, and progress toward goals.
• Attend IEP meetings, staff meetings, and training as requested by the partner school.
• Operate as an employee of the assigned school(s).
• Communicate with parents, staff, and other individuals involved with the students as deemed necessary.
• Submit billing in a timely manner.
• Perform any other duties as specified by the supervisor.

Miriam Learning Center is searching for a FULL TIME SPED Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year located at a school in St. Louis City. Compensation range is $52,820.50 - $74,181.00. The position will work with grades K-5 in a general education/special education classroom during school hours Monday - Friday. Caseload is a mix of push‑in and pull‑out. The full‑time SPED teacher will write and update IEPs, manage the SPED process, and provide IEP minutes and consultation.

Pay: $52,820.50 - $74,181.00

Responsibilities

The special education teacher/tutor evaluates a student’s academic issues as they pertain to selected school subjects and provides instruction to improve upon deficit areas. The role includes direct instruction and consultation to meet IEP goals and present level of performance. The teacher may write and update Individual Educational Plans and complete quarterly progress reports. Must feel comfortable taking charge in new situations and working independently, and must respond to work requests quickly via email or phone.
