Job summary

Juneau School District is seeking a Self-Contained Special Education Paraeducator to support students in Harborview Elementary School. The role focuses on enhancing learning in BEST, DEC-C, DEC and Transitions programs, in both individual and small-group settings.

The position is full-time (.9333 FTE) for 9 months with a starting wage of $27.40 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, PERS, and paid time off, with fingerprint background checks required prior to hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Some prior experience working with school-age children preferred.
• CPR, first aid and district approved behavior management techniques may be required.
• Must have either an AA degree, or 48 semester hours, or pass WorkKeys exam.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instructional activities in assigned areas (reading, writing, math, computers, vocational education).
• Record grades and collect data on student progress or behavior.
• Work individually or in small groups with students.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, supervisors and parents.
