Job summary

The Salvation Army Springfield Harbor House Shelter in Springfield, Missouri is seeking a full-time Cook with at least one year of cooking experience. This 40-hour-per-week role offers a generous benefits package and a starting pay of $15.00 per hour.

The Cook will work under the Head Cook, preparing and serving meals, and performing cleanup. The Shelter is located at 636 N Boonville Ave, Springfield, MO 65806, and serves as a mission-oriented employer with equal opportunity policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; one year cooking experience preferred.
• Combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Must follow recipes and safety handling instructions.
• Medically qualified to work in food service area.
• Must have a valid food handling certificate.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food.
• Comply with all safety and health regulations/codes for food prep and service, including sanitation.
• Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas.
• Sanitize all cooking utensils and handle lifting of materials.
• Operate kitchen equipment for food prep and cleanup.
• Attend state certification classes and lodge staff meetings.
