Job summary

• Winter maintenance including snow removal and sanding/salting.
• Take direction from principal/Director as needed.

Job Description

Definition: Under the direction of the Director of Buildings and Grounds or Day Lead.

Essential Functions: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. • Demonstrates concern for and acts to assure the safety, security and welfare of her/ himself, students and coworkers. (Wears Personal Protective Equipment as needed.)


• Maintains current knowledge of school Safety Plan.

• Has good attendance and is punctual, notifying supervisor of illness and personal requests in a timely fashion.

Department Specific Tasks

• Follow the work schedule for the performance of regular cleaning duties. Major functions to include:

  4. Clean sinks and countertops
  
  
  5. Dusting

  8. Cleaning spills
  
  
  9. Stripping/waxing/sealing of tile and VCT flooring

• Cooperate with other custodians, day lead, teachers and other building personnel in maintaining a clean and safe school facility.


• Take direction for duties from the principal, director of buildings and ground and day lead as needed.


• Operate and utilize all assigned equipment in a manner that is safe and consistent with the manufacturer’s operating instructions including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)


• Perform winter maintenance functions such as snow removal and sanding/salting.


• Any other tasks as requested by the Director of Buildings and Grounds/Day Lead, performs custodial functions to academic and non-academic buildings; is responsible for assigned activities necessary to maintain assigned areas in a neat, clean and sanitary manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constant light to moderate physical effort required in performing functions. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to move (push, pull, or lift) objects weighing up to 60 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; frequent bending, kneeling, and squatting when carrying out routine duties. Must be able to climb ladders and otherwise access all levels of public facilities. May spend entire shift walking or standing.
