Job summary

Morris School District in Morristown, NJ is seeking a full-time grounds maintenance worker to care for district grounds, mow and maintain fields, and keep facilities and surrounding areas in top condition.

The role requires physical stamina, a valid driver’s license, and a Black Seal Boiler License (or the ability to obtain within two years). Strong teamwork and reliability are essential, with after-hours emergency availability and a 90-day probation period.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Must be available for emergency services after hours as required.
• Must possess, or acquire within two years, a Black Seal Boiler License.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License.
• Must pass a 90-day probation period.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with others.
• Demonstrated ability to perform groundskeeping duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds and landscaping across district properties.
• Mow, weed, edge grass, trees, shrubs and plantings.
• Keep walks clean and free of debris.
• Lime and seed grounds as directed.
• Water playing fields, trees, and planting beds as needed.
• Mulch and edge beds and plantings.
• Line, drag, roll, and maintain fields for PE classes and events.
• Rake leaves and debris; dispose properly.
• Erect and repair fences where needed.
• Maintain and repair outdoor equipment and signs.
• Line, paint and maintain driveways and parking lots as needed.
• Remove snow and ice from walkways and parking lots as weather dictates.
• Assist in operation and maintenance of the plant.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
