Job summary

Bayley-Senior-Care-Corp-1 is seeking a Charge Nurse (RN/LPN) to lead a nursing unit in a long-term care setting. You will supervise STNA staff, manage admissions and discharges, and ensure daily regulatory compliance.

You will assess resident needs, develop care plans, and administer medications under physician and supervisor guidance. Strong leadership and communication are essential for high-quality resident care.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Federal regulations and Ohio State regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills. Knowledgeable of teaming principles and applications.
  • Two years’ experience in long term health care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead unit operations and maintain morale through team-based leadership and supervision of STNA staff.
  • Discipline, performance evaluations, retention, and development of qualified personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations governing long-term care.
  • Develop and maintain good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings to identify and address problems and improve services.
  • Train nursing personnel and assess skills; ensure residents' rights are observed.
  • Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Participate in needs assessments and plan of care for residents.
  • Conduct daily resident visits to assess status changes and nursing needs.
  • Complete medical forms, evaluations, and incident reports promptly.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by physicians or supervisors.
  • Maintain written procedures on medication/storage/control of supplies.
  • Consult nursing supervisor/physician for treatment planning and rehab.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of changes in resident condition.
  • Stay current with regulations through publications and seminars.

Description

The RN or LPN generally assumes a charge nurse role which is key in providing a productive work environment, quality resident care, and front-line leadership. Reporting to the nursing supervisor, the charge nurse maintains unit morale and ensures daily compliance of Federal, State, and local regulations.

Unit Leadership
  1. Responsible for the unit morale by providing a team based work environment through effective team leadership and a demonstrated positive attitude, including STNA assignment and supervision.
  2. Assumes a lead role in employee related issues such as discipline, performance evaluations, retention, and development of qualified personnel.
  3. Works with the Nursing supervisor to ensure compliance of Federal, State, and local regulations that govern the long-term care industry.
  4. Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental and cross-functional personnel.
  5. Facilitates unit communications by conducting regular meetings with staff personnel designed to identify and correct problem areas and/or the improvement of services.
  6. Responsible for the training and skills assessment of assigned nursing personnel. Ensures all unit members are knowledgeable and compliant with resident’s rights and responsibilities.
Nursing Duties

1. Assists with the admission, transfer, and discharge residents.

2. Participates in preliminary resident needs assessments and in the development of a written plan of care.

3. Performs daily resident visits to assess and evaluate resident status changes and nursing needs.

4. Completes medical forms, evaluations, and accident/incident reports in a timely manner.

5. Administers medications and performs treatments as directed by the attending physician or nursing supervisor.

6. Accountable for the proper maintenance of written procedures outlining the administration, storage, and control of medications and medical supplies.

7. Consults the nursing supervisor and/or attending physician in the planning, treatment, and rehabilitation of assigned residents.

8. Ensures proper notification of appropriate personnel when a change in the resident’s condition occurs.

9. Remains current of applicable regulations and procedures by professional publications and attending applicable seminars.

Requirements

Educational Attainment Successful completion of Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse curriculum from an accredited program.

Licensure/Certification Possess a current LPN or RN Ohio license.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable Federal regulations and Ohio State regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills. Knowledgeable of teaming principles and applications.
