Job summary

United Community Services, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our medication unit. This full-time role requires an unrestricted Iowa RN license, CPR, and the ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.

You will administer medications, perform nursing assessments, coordinate care, and ensure HIPAA compliance while supporting our mission to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a non-profit setting.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted license in Iowa as RN.
• CPR certification required.
• Venipuncture skills required.
• Ability to work independently and exercise discretion.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to patients in treatment.
• Perform nursing assessments and H&P’s on new admissions or readmissions.
• Review prescriptions and OTC medications for safety and knowledge.
• Perform TB tests and other tests as ordered by physician.
• Take venipuncture and injections as ordered by physician.
• Carry out physician orders including telephone orders.
• Assist physician with patient care and rooming.
• Document patient status clearly and promptly.
• Make health referrals when necessary.
• Monitor medication usage and report concerns.
