Job summary

Ashe Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist/Technician to join our Cardiopulmonary team. The on-site position provides high-quality care for neonatal through geriatric patients, performing a broad range of respiratory therapies and diagnostics in a fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate has formal Respiratory Care training, appropriate licensure, and strong clinical judgment, with the ability to work independently and support patient care excellence in our community

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program required.
• Associate degree, Bachelor degree, or certificate in Respiratory Care required.
• Minimum of one year of respiratory care experience preferred.
• Current North Carolina Respiratory Care license (NCRCB) required.
• Current NBRC credentials required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• ACLS certification required within six months of hire.
• PALS certification required within six months of hire.
• NRP certification required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform oxygen, aerosol, humidity, bronchodilator, and chest physiotherapy treatments.
• Provide ventilator management, airway care, intubation, extubation, and ventilator support during CPR.
• Perform arterial blood gas collection, analysis, documentation, and interpretation.
• Conduct pulmonary diagnostics including spirometry, peak flow testing, overnight oximetry, EKGs, and Holter monitor setup.
• Assist with bronchoscopy procedures, C-sections, and infant deliveries.
• Perform routine maintenance, quality control, and validation testing on respiratory and blood gas equipment.
• Complete accurate electronic documentation, patient education, and departmental reporting.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Communicate significant clinical findings and provide complete patient handoff reports.
