Job summary

CJ Schwan's is hiring a full-time maintenance technician in Minnesota to perform refrigeration system inspections, prevent maintenance, and repairs across plant equipment. The role emphasizes safety compliance and collaboration with the maintenance team.

Responsibilities include equipment setup, boilers, condensers, and glycol systems, with attention to OSHA rules and Hazmat training. Requires basic trade training and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 0–1 year of related experience in ammonia refrigeration preferred.
• Knowledge of refrigeration maintenance, electrical, HVAC or plumbing.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and qualify for boiler license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections and preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment (air conditioners, compressors, evaporators, freon units) for safe operation.
• Perform repairs and overhauls on ammonia refrigeration systems (motors, pumps, switches, safety controls, solenoids, fuses).
• Maintain boilers, evaporators, condensers; manage water treatment, airflow, and glycol pumps.
• Assist with equipment setup/teardown and installation of new plant machinery for major repairs or construction projects.
• Adhere to safety protocols including LOTO, Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection; participate in Hazmat training.
