Job summary

Resources for Human Development seeks a dedicated Psychiatric Rehabilitation Worker to support adults with serious mental illness and substance use disorders in a long-term structured residential program in Allegheny County. Training is provided, with opportunities for skill-building and professional development; a compassionate, mission-driven environment awaits.

You'll work under clinical supervision to implement rehabilitation plans, facilitate group activities, and help participants access

Qualifications

HS diploma/GED minimum; bachelor’s preferred.
Minimum of 6 months direct care experience with clients with mental health, substance abuse or forensic issues.
Valid driver’s license.
State police clearance.
Pre-employment physical, TB and Hep B screening.
Psychiatric Rehabilitation principles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills with staff and participants.
Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Able to engage residents in therapeutic and recovery-oriented interactions.

Responsibilities

Promote recovery and psychiatric rehabilitation principles with participants, providers, and stakeholders.
Provide skill-building for recovery management, personal strengths, and recovery goals.
Assist in identifying or reconnecting to natural supports including peer recovery supports.
Assist in scheduling appointments as needed.
Assist with accessing and navigating mental health and/or D&A services.
Assist with navigating the legal system and related services.
Participate in treatment team and aftercare meetings.
Demonstrate schedule flexibility to meet participants’ needs.
Advocate for members' community, medical, and behavioral health needs.
Use motivational interviewing to identify strengths, needs, motivation, triggers, and goals.
Bridge the gap between physical health care and behavioral health treatment.
Provide telephonic assistance to members and families.
Empower members to self-advocate and follow through with appointments.
Document and bill for services using EHR.
