Job summary

Lake Orion Community Schools is seeking an Early Childhood Instructor Assistant in Lake Orion, Michigan, to support preschoolers ages 3-5 and implement the High Scope curriculum under supervision.

The position is a school-year role, full-time, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with immediate start. Required are a high school diploma; an associate degree or CDA is preferred. CPR/First Aid is desirable, and candidates should demonstrate reliability and respectful practice.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Early Childhood or CDA preferred; High School Diploma required
• Training in High Scope Curriculum
• Ability to work with preschool children (3–5) and families
• Knowledge of child development theories and practices
• Ability to develop age-appropriate curriculum
• Kindness, respect and inclusivity in interactions
• Reliable attendance and dependability
• CPR/First Aid preferred
• Must be available to perform duties

Responsibilities

• Instructor of pre-school aged children (3-5 years old)
• Develop daily schedule of activities and lessons
• Respond quickly to emergency situations
• Be available and responsive to all children
• Treat all children with equal respect and consideration
• Anticipate and redirect potential problems
• Guide children in resolving conflicts
• Collaborate with colleagues, service providers and supervisors
• Lift a minimum of 40 lbs
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Education
