Job summary

NEXDINE Hospitality’s Acton location is seeking a Prep Cook to support the Executive Chef in preparing breakfast, lunch and catered events. You will assist with daily kitchen tasks, monitor sanitation, and maintain high food quality and safety standards.

The position is full-time in Acton, MA, with an hourly rate of $23.00–$25.00 and a weekly direct-deposit pay cycle. Health, life and retirement benefits are offered along with paid time off and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

• Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
• Inspect and clean food preparation areas, equipment and surfaces to ensure sanitation.
• Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperatures by regulating ovens, broilers, grills, roasters and other equipment.
• Monitor freshness of food and ingredients, rotate stock, and check labeling and dating procedures.
• Monitor, cook and prepare foods to confirm proper cooking using tasting, smell or food thermometers.
• Prepare stations as directed according to company guidelines; bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods.
• Season, weigh, measure and mix ingredients to recipes with guidance from supervisor.
• Wash, peel, cut and seed fruits and vegetables for consumption.
• Carve, trim and prepare meats and seafood for hot or cold service.
• May bake breads, rolls, cakes and pastries.
• Maintain records of food usage and assist with inventory.
• Follow supplier specifications and forecast preparation needs.
• Provide timely service to customers and assist culinary staff at various stations.
