Qualifications

  • Graduate from recognized Medical Physician program.
  • Licensure as a Physician in Virginia is mandatory.
  • Experience in pediatric care essential.

  • PT - 2 shifts/week
  • 2-3 providers on shift at all times

Hours of Operation:


Monday-Thursday: 12pm-8pm
Saturday-Sunday: 10am-8pm

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical assessments and obtain health histories
  • Develop individualized, evidence-based care plans
  • Prescribe appropriate medications based on assessment findings
  • Consult with outside specialists, as needed, to coordinate plan of care
  • Collaborate with fellow providers to develop, implement, and enforce clinical pathways to ensure consistency in the treatment of patients.
  • Write and execute orders in accordance with legal, ethical, state, and facility standards.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and as prescribed.
  • Escalate care in a timely manner regarding patients showing signs of instability or those who may require admission to the hospital.
  • Practice and promote positive customer/peer relations while fostering a learning work environment.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform moderate to extreme physical effort such as walking, standing, and performing CPR.
  • Ability to lift work materials, equipment, and patients. Occupational lifting may be heavy and awkward (over 50lbs).
  • Must have adequate vision, hearing, speech, and sense of touch to enable one to quickly and accurately perform tasks such as reading small print, monitoring equipment, communicating with patients and peers, and defining details.
  • Ability to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as required by job status.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and excellent bedside manner
  • Computer literacy
  • Skill in exercising high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision making abilities.
  • Ability to differentiate between normal and abnormal findings obtained by history, physical screening, and behavioral assessments.
  • Ability to execute diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to: suturing, I&D of abscesses, foreign body removal, reduction of simple dislocations and fractures, subungual hematoma evacuations, ingrown toenail removal, and nail bed laceration repair.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Graduation from an approved Medical Physician program
  • Valid license to practice as a Physician in the state of Virginia
  • Experience as a pediatric provider (required)
  • Pediatric urgent care/pediatric ER (preferred)
