UPMC is seeking a Senior Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department at UPMC Passavant (McCandless) in Pittsburgh. This full-time role delivers advanced patient care under RN direction, assists with ADLs, monitoring, and other essential nursing support activities.

Shifts are 36 hours per week with rotating schedules. The Senior level starts at $19.19 per hour, with compensation based on qualifications and education. The position requires strong patient-centered care and teamwork.

Responsabilidades

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, procedures, therapies, and patient monitoring
• Perform core PCT competencies, including vital signs, telemetry, EKGs, specimen collection, and catheter-related tasks
• Assist with unit and patient needs (call lights, meals, transport, monitoring); transport of cardiac monitored patients
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical functions as needed
• Support unit operations and quality initiatives, including participation in projects and department activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships and taking ownership of assignments
• Provide patient and family education under RN direction and respond to emergent situations as appropriate

Shifts: 36 hours per week; rotating shifts

Title and rate of pay will be determined based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education. The minimum hourly starting rates for each level are as follows:

• Care Attendant: $18.19
• Nursing Assistant: $18.59
• Patient Care Technician: $18.99
• Patient Care Technician, Senior: $19.19

Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, procedures, therapies, and patient monitoring
• Perform all core PCT competencies, including vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry, specimen collection, EKGs, bladder scans, dressings, catheter removal, and restraint application per protocol
• Assist with unit and patient needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and monitoring), including transport of cardiac monitored patients
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical functions as needed
• Support unit operations and quality initiatives, including participation in projects and department activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, taking ownership of assignments, and supporting team performance and improvement efforts
• Provide patient and family education under RN direction and respond to emergent situations as appropriate
