Job summary

Duplin County Government is seeking to fill a Cabin Lake Recreation Facility position under general supervision to maintain and operate the park, greet visitors, and enforce park rules. duties include opening/closing facilities, assisting in registrations, and performing light maintenance.

The role requires weekend/holiday work, basic first aid/CPR, and ability to perform minor repairs and operate park equipment. Background checks and driver’s license are required.

• Provides excellent customer service involving greeting and registering park visitors and informing visitors about the facility and its operation via telephone or in person informing them of park rules, policies, and hours of operation.
• Employee must use considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public.
• Collects fees and registers transactions in computer system.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide; ability to make change.
• Operates paddle boat area.
• Makes minor repairs to facilities.
• Assists in keeping facilities clean for park visitor’s use.
• Pick up litter and empty trashcans.
• Open and close buildings and restrooms as needed.
• Provide basic first aid and CPR
• Report any participant injuries or property damage within 24 hours of occurrence.
• Patrols Park regularly for security and maintenance issues.
• Operates equipment, including tractors, lawnmowers, chainsaws, weed-eaters, and other equipment.
• Assists in registering park campers and collecting fees for the use of park facilities.
• Makes minor repairs to facilities.
• Picks up garbage.
• Performs preventive maintenance on buildings and equipment; cleans windows; changing light bulbs; keeps facilities clean for park visitor use.
• Performs grounds keeping work, which includes mowing, raking, trimming, weed eating, log splitting, tree cutting.
• Related duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform a variety of tasks involved in the maintenance and general operation of the Cabin Lake Recreation Facility. Employees in this classification perform skilled and semi-skilled work. Position is responsible for opening and closing park at specified times. Greets public and informs visitors concerning park rules and regulations. This position is also responsible for general maintenance of park facilities. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated in terms of quality of work, observation, and visitor user reaction. Performs related work as required.

Financial and Budgeting Responsibility

Essential financial tasks may include preparing invoices and checks; collect money; and make deposits as needed.

Marginal Functions

While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not anessential part ·of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members. Performs general filing.

Assists other unit workers when time permits. Performs other duties as assigned.

Special Requirements

Federal Background checks are required of the position as it relates to Homeland Security and the use of the federal computer system. In accordance with the county’s drug free workplace policy, employees will be subject to pre-employment and random drug screening. Limited attendance at night meetings or weekend activities may be necessary, as well as travel outside the office and the county on behalf of the county for meetings and trainings.All employees should possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.All employees may be requested to perform other duties as assigned.All employees may be required to assist county operations during a State of Emergency, disaster or other county event.All employees must be able to pass a CPR-First Aid course within six months of start date.All employees must be able to pass a Chainsaw course within six months of start date.
