Job description

Looking for a physical therapist to join our cash-pay, private practice in beautiful Sitka, Alaska!

We provide traditional PT for active adults, with a strong emphasis on hands-on/manual therapy. Our goal is to get patients back to the activities they love, and often take them beyond where they started with performance-based treatment and coaching. This may mean continued one-on-one care, or transitioning into one of our small-group classes. The goal is helping people move better, which looks different for everyone depending on their goals - our job is to help them achieve those goals!

We prioritize life-long learning both for our employees, and our patients, with a generous continuing education allowance, as well as ability to provide educational classes and workshops to the community as part of our services. We place a strong emphasis on preventative care, with many small group classes offered, complimenting our traditional PT services.

Sitka is a small town in SE Alaska, full of endless trails, mountains, and islands to explore. If you like the outdoors, a welcoming community that supports both the arts and athletics, and one of the most gorgeous backdrops to play in, this is your place! Because the town is only about 9,000 people, our patient population is diverse, but with a particular focus on peri- and post-menopausal women, often former athletes who have put their own health on the back burner while navigating kids, careers, and life. We help them reconnect with movement, strength, and confidence, while collaborating with other healthcare providers in the community when needed.

We also believe in practicing what we preach. Healthy work/life balance and boundaries are important to us. You choose your hours, with a goal of approximately 28 patients/week for a full-time position without classes, adjusted accordingly if you choose to develop or teach group programs. Both full-time and part-time positions are available, with flexibility to focus more on individual patient care or group classes. Not a requirement, but would love to get a pelvic health therapist in our mix, and/or someone interested in pursuing it. New grads welcome, with ability to add in mentorship/training hours if desired.

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program OR PTA license
• Current Alaska PT license or eligibility for licensure (employer willing to pay for licensing)
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Willingness to relocate to island in SE Alaska
• Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and interpersonal skills
• Interest in working with active adults and a movement/performance-based approach to care
• Willingness to continue developing skills including dry needling, manual-based care, as well as specializations
• Commitment to lifelong learning and patient education
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with other healthcare professionals
• New grads are welcome! Mentorship and additional training hours can be incorporated into the position as desired.
• Pelvic health experience or interest is a bonus, but not required.
