Job summary

UMass Amherst Eye Clinic is seeking a Staff Optometrist to provide professional eye care to students, faculty, staff and dependents on the Amherst campus. Under the direction of the UHS Medical Director, you will perform routine examinations, contact lens services and emergency care onsite, following departmental policies.

This is a full-time, onsite role at the Amherst location. You will supervise student interns and contribute to health education initiatives while upholding the university's

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Optometry is required.
• Minimum of two years of clinical optometry experience.
• Massachusetts license or eligibility with MA license in place at hire.
• Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents (TPA) and Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents (DPA) certified.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct clinical optometric care including routine, contact lens and emergency services for students, faculty, staff, visitors and dependents.
• Provides preventative eye care services and participates in Health Services education programs.
• Consults with parents, faculty and administrators regarding student eye care within confidentiality limits.
• Assists with supervision of student interns.
• Performs related duties as required.
