Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join a neuro-focused unit, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. The RN will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, while supervising non-RN staff and potentially serving as charge nurse.

Responsibilities include continuous assessment, care planning with family involvement, coordination with the healthcare team, and education of patients and families. Connecticut RN licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Proficient in electronic patient records.
• Able to use the internet for literature searches regarding care.
• Ability to work under supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s physical and psychosocial condition continuously.
• Develop and document an individualized care plan involving patient, family and healthcare team.
• Coordinate and implement the plan of care with the healthcare team.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care and readiness for discharge; revise as needed.
• Provide education to patient and family; precept new staff; may serve as charge nurse.
• Demonstrate competency in neuro patient care and airway management; care for trached patients.
• Assist physicians and care for patients during neuro procedures.
• Perform suctioning as per established policy and procedure.

Qualifications
